Artimis II

Artemis II launched the first crewed mission to the moon in 50+ years on April 1st. They sent four humans 452,000 km behind the moon and brought them back to splash down in the pre-calculated spot.

The Crew

10 day mission. Lunar flyby, not landing.

What Happened

The Nutella jar - Floated through the cabin during a livestream right before breaking the Apollo 13 distance record. Nutella’s social team had a field day.

Toilet mishap - Burning smell, limited use, “space plumbing” memes everywhere.

Microsoft Outlook crashed - Even in space, email is broken. Tech support memes followed.

Crater naming - Jeremy Hansen proposed naming two new craters “Integrity” (after the Orion spacecraft) and one honoring the commander’s late wife.

Re-entry

The ISS caught the re-entry.

Landing

They landed on the 10th and spent 30+ min trying to get comms working.
